Overture for 1 Piano 6 Hands
Piano Duet - Intermediate
Composed by Dan Bickel. 21st Century, Contemporary Classical, Recital. Individual Part. 10 pages. Published by Dan Bickel (S0.78567).
Item Number: S0.78567
This piece is the first movement of a future suite written for 3 of Dan's students – all from one family – as a recital piece. The arrangement is more orchestral in nature, using notes in all octaves of the piano to blend tones into textures to set various moods throughout the piece. It starts with a mysterious meandering motive in the bass forming a foundation for the other parts as they weave fugue-like to build a conclusion of majestic close-harmony chords. The center player then solos with a lyrical sequence of very tight harmonies to cool things down to a relaxing pace, before the trio of players join together again as massive chords and chime-like punctuation build to an energetic conclusion.
