This is a terrific book with very little editing from the original "Uhr" text.

  • March 16, 2007 Zipoli´s Masterpiece

I´m reading the "Sonate d´Intavolature" since last 2 years and preparing a Master degree research paper on them, for University of Sao Paulo - Music Department. The "Suddeutscher" edition provided by SheetMusicPlus is excelent in its large format and editorial details. I reccomend very much this books to any...

musician, specialy those who wants to perform or teaching early music at the organ or the harpsichord. The "versos" and "canzonas" of volume one are counterpoint pieces for manuals. They are relatively short, easy to read and a pleasure to play. The barroque suites of volume two are smart and original: they must be performed on the harpsichord to reveal its charming qualities. Zipoli deserves the best position among all Italian barroque composers, like Frescobaldi, Marcello, Pasquini and Scarlatti.
