  • December 30, 2011 It certainly doesn't "stink."

To the reviewer who stated the transcription "stinks" because it isn't the solo version, This piece is a transcription of the original version as heard in the film. There have been several versions recorded by Grusin, some solo and some with orchestra backing. To play it like the later...

recordings, just play the first 16 measures up an octave, tweak the grace notes a bit according to the recording, and it's faithful. "Stinks" really doesn't apply to this transcription.

  • July 22, 2008 Delightfully relaxing

I have been playing On Golden Pond for years and it is still one of my favourites. This piece is easy enough to be very relaxing to play. It is not the kind of thing you would play at a recital, as it is of an introspective nature and best...

enjoyed in solitude or with a few quiet listeners. It conjures up images of the beautiful movie and of summer days on a calm lake with the loons calling in the distance. There is lots of rubato and room for a variety of interpretations, so I imagine it must sound quite different depending on who is playing it. I am a piano teacher and advanced player. This piece is for pure enjoyment; I have never used it for teaching purposes.

Very nice, dream-like music. Played it for a wedding prelude.

  • July 05, 2007 Not Even Close to Correct

If you are looking to play this piece as it was scored by Grusin in his SOLO piano version, this piece is not even close. It stinks.

  • March 08, 2007 Pretty good

Not too difficult to play after a few passes through it. It's a very typical Grusin piece.
