Obedience Training for the Recorder

Obedience Training for the Recorder (A care and maintenance manual). Composed by Cranmore. Musical Literature. 73 pages. Published by Magnamusic Distributors Inc (MM.PTCRANM).

Tim Cranmore , a leading British based recorder maker - but a regular at recorder events throughout the world has written a care and maintenance manual for the instrument titled Obedience Training for the Recorder.

Its 73 pages is a synthesis of his approach to the subject as well as a practical introduction to looking after the instrument. Tim says
"Unlike strings and orchestral winds, the skills of recorder making were largely lost after the 18th century, and have been rediscovered during the last fifty years, Nowadays the market is supplied by a handful of individual makers scattered around the world. They are all single-minded, obsessive, independent, skilled workers, who combine the tasks of researcher, craftsman, salesman and musician in one. He is proud to be one of them".

To my opinion this book is very well written. I have no doubt about the qualities of the author. Many aspects concerning the recorder are given attention. For me, an amateur builder of recorders, many helpfull passages are present in the book. Quite worth it's price I think.
