This unique songbook features ten selections from the critically-acclaimed Coen brothers film, arranged in melody/lyric/chord format with guitar tab to be played by a wide variety of musicians. The traditional songs for this film were selected by T-Bone Burnett to capture the sound of the early-'30s South, and the movie soundtrack has done much to rekindle interest in the folk/blues/bluegrass/gospel genres. Songs include: Big Rock Candy Mountain (Harry McClintock) * You Are My Sunshine (Norman Blake) * Hard Time Killing Floor Blues (Chris Thomas King) * I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow (The Soggy Bottom Boys/Norman Blake) * Keep on the Sunny Side (The Whites) * I'll Fly Away (Alison Krauss and Gillian Welch) * and more. Includes many pages of great photos from the film.

  • July 30, 2008 I won't be using this book

I have 20 years experience playing guitar, but found that most songs in this book are too comlicated. Maybe it's that what's shown is for more than one guitar at a time? I'll stick with Beatles!

Tab is complete and accurate (always a concern with buying online). Not all songs are included, but all the ones I wanted are.

  • March 20, 2002 Oh, Brother...it's in there

Love this book...after watching the movie, buying the soundtrack and then watching the movie again, I couldn't wait to find the music for "A Man Of Constant Sorrow". My problem was there are 4 versions on the CD and I wasn't sure which one was in the...

book. It includes two versions and the two that I wanted. Book was very straight forward and by listening to the CD along with this book you should be able to play them all. If you like this music I highly recommend the book

    Difficulty Level:
  • October 02, 2001 Thanks for the extra effort, folks!

I bought this book hoping that it would include complete transcriptions of the guitar, mandolin and dobro parts - which I couldn't quite ear out on my own (heck, who's got the time, really?). And sure enough, there they were, plain as day! Thanks for a job well done...

. Me and mine thank you.
