Piano/Keyboard - SMP Level 8 (Early Advanced); NFMC Level: Difficult Class 2
Intermediate (Level 5) Showcase Solo. Composed by Carol Klose. Educational Piano Library. Difficult Class 2 piece for the Piano Solo event with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) Festivals Bulletin 2008-2009-2010. Softcover. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.296475).

Item Number: HL.296475

9x12 inches.

A spirited recital closer! This energetic showpiece exploits both the full range of the keyboard and the player's palette of pianistic color and articulation. The sprightly sixteenth-note passages in C major are contrasted with a warm, lyrical section in E-flat major. A vivid study in staccato/legato contrast, two-note phrases, use of the damper pedal as a coloristic device, and cross-hand notes, this piece not only sounds impressive, but is great fun to play. (HLSPL Level 5) piano solo. ABA form; 4/4 meter; Allegro tempo; C major/E-flat major; 101 measures. Timing: 3:20.

  • April 14, 2015 Outstanding choice for adjudication!

An 8th grade student of mine had chosen to perform this song for his solo piano adjudication. It has wonderful contrast with the beginning section to the warm expressive section. It allows the ability to really bring out alot of dynamics along with really having the opportunity to showcase the...

skill level expression and ability the pianist has. Precision, articulation, color, tempo changes and a dynamic ending, when practiced correctly, will be an amazing piece for showcasing! I highly recommend this piece for a solo adjudication.

Playing this piece is so much more beautiful and enjoyable than listening to the recording. This makes a wonderful competition or recital piece. It's exciting to play--students will love it!

This no doubt would be a great crowd pleaser on a recital. A real closer.
