I use this book for some of my students who want to learn the classics but are still beginners. It is challenging enough to keep them interested yet not so difficult that they get discouraged.

    Difficulty Level:
  • October 16, 2008 very basic

I purchased this for my 8 year old thinking it would be a good way for him to quickly learn some additional songs without too much effort. Therefore keeping his practice interesting while working on harder pieces. However, this book is so basic that I doubt that he will be...

too interested in it. The songs are simplified to the point that they lose a lot of the fullness that makes the pieces interesting in the first place.

I bought this for my nephew who is a beginner and likes classical music. He has already mastered some. Although intended for a beginner, when played, some of them sound very professional. Its a good book to buy.

I am very pleased with this book. I got it for a 1st year piano student, 8 years old, who is also thrilled. Hungarian Rhapsody is his favorite! Good selections and arrangements that challenge but sound good!
