  • January 09, 2008 Revised Opinion but Still Great

Music for Keyboard 1A, 1B, and 2A, along with Creative Keyboard, provide a three-level sequence that covers essentiall the same material as Music for Piano level 1 and most of level 2. Pictures are included, making the books a bit more attractive for students who need that type of...

motivation. The course provides a foundation for all students. Supplemental performance music is an essential need for users of this course.

  • June 11, 2007 Alternative to Music for Piano

Music for Keyboard levels 1A and 1B, combined with Creative Keyboard at the same level, provide a two-volume alternative to Music for Piano. The books offer a less intensive approach with more pictures for the 7 and 8 year old student. The student is taught the major scales in...

tetrachord form in this series, helping to make key signatures more understandable. I consider this to be an advantage. The learn all the notes in one fell swoop approach is still present, requiring the teacher to use flash cards to drill the lines and spaces over several weeks. Finger numbers are used a bit too much for my taste: I go through a bottle of white out instead. I find it is senseless to use level 2A, as level 2B was never published. Follow these two books with level 2 of Music for Piano instead.
