  • July 26, 2011 Piano pieces from "The Pianist"

I agree with the others - it would have been fun to have the Grand Polonaise but I really bought the book for the posthumous piece that doesn't appear in my edition of Nocturnes. It's a very nicely done book, but you'll be disappointed if you were after...

"the big one." I am happy with it.

The Grande Polonaise Brillante IS the MAIN feature of the movie and it is NOT INCLUDED IN THIS BOOK. In the movie it is so much the MAIN feature that it is played twice, the second time at the end of the movie and played in its entirety, all 20...

-23 pages, with a full orchestra score! It is disappointing that [the publisher...] would not specify that they have ONLY the Andante Spianato movement "FROM" Chopin's Opus 22 in this book and/or YET, THEY GIVE THE IMPRESSION that IT IS serious music (Op.22) when it is only beginner type music with the slow, easy music spread out for easy reading into 5 pages. Yet, the apoggiaturas and cadences are scrunched together so much that they are almost impossible to read unless you already know the music by memory from before and you are just using the sheet music for guidance here and there.

  • October 02, 2004 Review on the "Pretty Good..." Review

The person who wrote the "Pretty Good..." review said he was disappointed that Grand Polonaise was not in this book. I would like to say that this should not deter you from buying the book. Grand Polonaise was written for an orchestra, and includes the parts for violin etc., which...

is probably why it was not included in this book. The piece is 14 pages long and is extremely difficult. However, if you really want the music for it, you can just order it separate form this book. I have the book and consider it very good, even if the music is challenging. So again, please don't let Grand Polonaise stop you from buying the book, or you will definately regret it.

  • March 20, 2004 A great movie, book, and music book

This book contains the best songs from the movie, the Pianist. Recently, while shopping in an electronics store, I spotted a keyboard. I sat on a nearby box, and played Nocturne in C# minor. When I turned around, there was a crowd of about 15 people around me, which shows...

how great this music is. BUY THIS!

  • November 10, 2003 Pretty good...

This book is very very good, the notation is excellent, fingurework well articulated, but there is one major fault with the book that is annoying. It doesn't contain all of the pices from the sountrack, most notably the Grand Poloniase (track 9) which is dissappointing. With the exception of...

that however, this book is very good indeed. Personally however I woud opt for the book below, as it has ALL the pieces from the sountrack and to my mind better value for money.
