Mozart Sonata K. 545 theme

Level 1C Piano Solo for beginners of all ages

3 pages including cover

Listen to the magical sounds of Mozart's most famous Sonata coming from your living room!

This piece sounds nearly identical to the original score and it will make the player sound far more advanced than they actually are. It's an impressive piece that's great for any recital or performance.

Learn it slow and then play it fast; this piece is a perfect challenge for beginner students. They'll be asked to follow finger numbering carefully and, if they do, will be rewarded with a sound that's far more advanced than a beginner level piece.

Mozart's Sonata K. 545 (first movement) is his most popular and recognizable Sonata. Now you can enjoy playing this piece today, instead of waiting years to play the original score.

Details for teachers:

The piece is a challenging Level 1C arrangement. It's been used as the final song in Piano Lesson Book C for many years, and is manageable for students about to graduate to level 1D.

Technical notes:

  • There are no eighth notes in this piece

  • There are no sharps or flats

  • It's in the Key of C

  • Page 2 is super easy, fast, and fun to learn and play

  • The challenging part is mainly in the Bass Clef of line two. The reason it's challenging is because the bass clef patterns change from measure to measure in line 2 – but students tend to repeat the first pattern instead – even when you point it out at the lesson!

Best teaching tip for this song:

  • Here's a strange tip that I've learned from over 15 years of teaching this arrangement: Teach the Bass Clef line two before anything else – even the melody (and have them play it a number of times in the lesson before they go home to practice it). By doing this it helps the student to see it as a technical part and they're more likely to put on their "thinking cap" before getting swept away with the melody and rhythm later on.
  • You'll probably notice that the student tends to play faster on the second page because it's so much easier. A metronome from the early days of practice can be a big help with this.

I hope you have fun with this piece. It's been one of my favorites for years because it keeps my students motivated and it sounds amazing!

Sincerely,

Miss Rhonda
