This book will get lots of use by the church and wedding flutist. The arrangements are interesting and slightly challenging and the CD is a great asset.

The arrangements in this book are well written and easy to listen to. The accompaniment CD is nice, and provides demonstrations with a number of different instruments. The flue/oboe version I ordered is transcribed with both upper and lower registers on each arrangement, making it easier for the player...

to choose the level of difficulty. My only issue is that many of the arrangements seem to be more intended for brass instruments. Several include very nice fanfare intros that just don't sound natural when played by woodwinds. Still, if you're looking for a fresh sound for your performances, by all means give this one a try. The following hymns are included in this book: How Firm a Foundation, Amazing Grace, Softly and Tenderly, O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Holy God, We Praise Thy Name, Easter Glory (medly of Christ Arose and Christ the Lord is Risen Today), Holy, Holy, Holy, Lead On, O King Eternal, and My Faith Looks Up to Thee.
