Monkey Business

By David Lovrien

Concert band - Grade 5 (Advanced)
Composed by David Lovrien. A playable circus march, full of surprises. Circus march. Full score and set of parts. Duration 3:20. Published by Lovebird Music (LB.104).

Item Number: LB.104

This challenging circus march is a rollicking romp from start to finish! It attempts to capture the excitement of a child's first trip to the circus: the thrill, the laughter, the joy. Lots of rowdy percussion (whistle, slapstick, cowbell), in-your-face brass and whirling woodwind runs. It has been used by several Texas high school bands in sweepstakes contest performances.

This is a little bit challenging, but worth the effort. A fun and fast circus style march. The Lansing Concert Band loves this piece.

    Difficulty Level:
  • September 24, 2009 What are these monkeys up to?

Monkey Business is a fantastic song when played properly, at ludicrous speeds! Lovrien is a saxophone player, which might explain his odd choices of music (we pride ourselves in being different). The changes of keys and uncommon note combinations put together with a wonderful rhythm and carnival-like feel make...

this a great piece for advanced bands up for a challenge.
