The version that I was working from is from a Hal Leonard collection, and is arranged in 2/2, or cut, time. It was a big hit back in 1975 for Ray Stevens, who turned up the tempo and re-styled it considerably. It turns out that I actually re-arranged this back into its original time of 4/4, as composed by Errol Garner, which makes it eminently more suitable for the easy listening and piano bar crowds.
I simplified the guitar arrangement in parts. I often find that my chord selections are more comfortable to play than those provided in my sources. That Fm9/G# is easier to play than it looks and that form should be included in every jazz guitar player's repertoire. I have yet to see it in any composition that I haven't included it in yet.
