  • March 17, 2011 Acoustic Arrangements

Really good arrangements - i like a CD recording a lot. There is only one reason for 4 stars. Nowhere in description is mentioned that those are acoustic guitar - fingerpicking arrangements, not chord-melody electric ones (and that was what i expected). In many cases that is not problem, but some...

techniques or fingerings (i.e. a lot of open strings) won't port well to electric flat-picking. This is probably 4 stars to store description not to book itself. Arrangements are really nice and interesting, but everyone should be aware it's acoustic guitar and fingerpicking.

  • February 14, 2009 Awesome

Great book for learning Miles' tunes on solo guitar. I'm working through 3 tunes at the moment and it's a great challenge. Some difficult stuff here but arranged in a very intelligent and cohesive way that makes the songs work. And there's a lot of it (91...

pages of music - 15 tunes) which makes it an awesome deal. The CD that comes with it sounds great and the playing is inspiring. I've always loved Miles' music and playing it on guitar is a great treat.

  • December 29, 2008 Great Jazz guitar book

Like an earlier reviewer noted, this book is a great arrangement to listen and play to. If you like early Miles and want to learn jazz chord progression, this one's for you! Some pieces are relatively straightforward; others are challengingly fast and complex.

  • May 17, 2008 Very Pleasant Surpirse

This is not your typical instructional book CD pair. The CD is very well recorded and is one of the most interesting solo guitar discs I have ever purchased. I have been listening to it constantly on my iPod since I got it it and it alone is worth the...

price. Getting extremely accurate transcriptions of every note played on it is just a huge bonus. The arrangements are very meaty and longer than what you usually see in chord melody books. Level is appropriate for advanced or high intermediate players already familiar with chord melody playing. If you can learn all of these tunes, you can definitely play gigs with them.
