    Prozrachny Teatr, Moscow, Russia
    Difficulty Level:
  • October 11, 2007 practical, authoratative edition, just open & sing

This edition has been carefully prepared by expert musicologists, but with an accent on making a practical performing edition. Everything you need to give this piece a fine performance is there - even the correct plainsong introits for each movement. There's sensible underlay of text in all the voices too...

. If you have fought shy of performing this astoundingly beautiful music because of concerns about interpretation, then buy this edition and get singing! PS the voice-ranges for the male parts barely go outside a twelfth, and you could easily sing this with sop-mez-bar-bar. In fact the lower parts cross-over sometimes, with the "tenor" line singing the bass-note in chords... so it might almost be desirable to do the piece with this line-up?
