Choir Secular (Men's Choir)
Composed by Harold Arlen and E.Y. "Yip" Harburg. Arranged by Jay Althouse. Choral Octavo. Pop Choral Series. Movie; Secular. Choral Octavo. 12 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.27130).

Item Number: AP.27130

Would you believe this song was written by the same songwriting team that wrote The Wizard of Oz, Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg? It's true. They created this number for comedian Groucho Marx to sing in the 1939 movie At the Circus. It's a tour de force of comedic writing, in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. An absolute must-have for men's groups.
Inst. Parts Available (choral); Recorded Acc. Available.

  • October 14, 2009 Great entertainment...

A Groucho Marx classic, it works very well with our Retired Men's Choir and the audience loves it every time. Well arranged but admittedly a little more complicated than most songs. I have soloists take the verses and the chorus joins in the refrains. It seems to work well...

if you have a couple of guys who can ham it up...also the words come out a bit clearer with good solo performances. It has become one of our most popular and requested numbers.

Voice Choir'. It is very popular with audiences and a lot of fun. Now ordered the brass accompaniment. Try it. Its GREAT!!
