  • May 19, 2011 A Choral Masterpiece of Great Depth

"Lux Aeterna," (Eternal Flame) composed by Morten Lauridsen (former composer in rescidence of the LA Master Chorale and Prestigious Instructor of Composition at Thorton Music School) "Lux Aeterna," has to be his greatest work yet written for the Choral Idiom. A piece of great depth, and sound, this masterpiece will...

challange choirs with its impeccable tuning! "Sandwiched" intervals ( seconds amongst each choral voicing) is what creates the fine tuning. Heavenly, powerful, soulwrentching, and even Heartbreaking, "Lux Aeterna" should be in the repeotires of all professional choirs.

This contemporary sacred piece reminds one of early church music/Gregorian Chant and provides an interesting challenge for a sure-footed choir with sufficient singers to cover the SSAATTBB parts. The beautiful "O Nata Lux" is the most choir-friendly and accessible section.

  • March 14, 2009 Amazing writing

I'm performing this piece with a local church choir in Orlando and it's great. The instrumental parts aren't that exciting but the choral writing is genius. This is some of the most simple sounding yet complex music I've heard in a while. Truly moving in every...

    sense of the word.

  • January 06, 2009 Beautiful composition

My dad and I performed this with our local choral group in 2004 and loved it. Once we received the CD of our performance, we couldn't believe how beautifully it turned out. This is one of the most outstanding pieces that I have had the pleasure of performing.

  • May 27, 2008 Good stuff

Some people think it's transcendental. I think it's pretty darn good, but not transcendental.
