Elgar's Three Bavarian Dances were originally performed in orchestral form at the Crystal Palace in London in 1897. Their origin lies within songs Elgar wrote under the title of From the Bavarian Highlands, depicting a vacation taken by the composer and his wife in Bavaria in 1894. The second moderato movement, "Lullaby," is now available in an arrangement for string quartet. For the upper intermediate to advanced string quartet.
