    These etudes are hard to play in tune on the standard American tubas in CC and BBb. Many of the low notes are simply not possible to play in tune with a 5th valve and any amount of slide pulling. On the other hand they can be played on any...

    4 valve compensating Eb or BBb tuba. The phrases sometimes are too long given how low the are. They descend to the lowest C and B on the piano keyboard and many of those notes are too fast to be effective. They are fun to play if you have the right equipment.
