  • February 27, 2007 Great Song, but Where Are the Words

"Lorena" is one of the great songs of the Civil War era. I just wish this edition included more than the first verse. I believe there are six, and most singers will want to go beyond the first one.

  • September 30, 2006 I love this song because it wraps you up

Nobody has ever seen me cry over a song until I tried to sing it last year for a college voice class. My instructor was there. I've worked on it. My heart aches for that poor brokenhearted minister.

  • October 13, 2004 Haunting Ballad

This is one of the most haunting ballads ever written. It was sung around the campfires during the Civil War- therefore the first review is incorrect. It was written in 1857.

  • May 13, 2004 Lorena Is A Great Song!

Lorena is a song written by H.P.I. Webster when he was not allowed to marry the girl in his church choir in 1865. Later, an artist asked to use his poem as lyrics to a song he had written. It is the best song I ever heard.
