Londonderry Air arranged by Christopher Dedrick. For standard jazz ensemble (playable by 3 saxes, 3 brass plus rhythm section) with opt. tuba & vibes. Art Dedrick Legacy Editions. Ballad. Very easy. Score and parts. Published by Kendor Music Inc (KN.800).
The swingin' unison vocal featuring all wind players is the definite highlight in this easy-level vintage arrangement of 1955! Both before and after that rousing chorus, sax and brass solis and strong ensemble shouts give this old favorite plenty of momentum and sparkle. All rhythm section parts are fully notated, brass rhythms are very accessible (F5 trumpet, F4 trombone), and no improvisation is required. This scoring for full big band is also playable by as few as 3 saxes, 3 brass and rhythm, and each set includes optional parts for tuba and vibes.
