  • May 20, 2009 seriously?

if you think michael portnoy is such an average drummer, why don't you try playing his part on the dark eternal night? as far as skill and entertainment go, michael portnoy is good enough to challenge neil pert from rush!

  • September 14, 2006 MIKE PORTNOY IS AMAZING

that Ryan guy down there obviously knows nothing about drumming because mike portnoy is definitely not over rated, he's won so many awards for a reason, he's amazing! and the fact that he tought himself all of that stuff is just insane, i would love to be that...

good! i would completely reccomend this video to any drummer, beginner or advanced. and no, i am not another Mike Portnoy "fanboy", i would totally not be entertained by mike portnoy playing a triangle for three hours.. anyway.. this is an amazing video i would reccomend it to absolutely every drummer out there.. !!

  • August 25, 2006 I'll choose MP rather than DW

To tell you honestly,Dave Weckl is WAY BETTER than Mike Portnoy in the technical side of drumming...BUT...Mike has come up with his own style of playing, which oppossess alot of other number of drummers around the world...the LTE albums prove to be a masterpiece and MP...

is proud to be one of the 4 people who made history.Plus,Mike wasn't taught on how to play: He practiced his ass off withouth any proper training unlike DW who was taught on how to play traditionally... Overall,Mike Portnoy is one of the greatest Rock/Metal drummer who has stepped in the music industry and Dream Theater is also one of the best bands around the world.

  • November 13, 2005 Rather Dave Weckl anyday

Mike Portnoy, the lord of unsubtlety, but whilst some drummers are unsubtle (e.g Dave Weckl) but fabulous musicians Mike Portnoy is actually not that good! He taught himself, and you can tell, he uses fast fills and lots of crashes to make it all sound very exciting, but if...

anyone wants to hear the drums played in a truly masterful way listen to Will Kennedy, or Dennis Chambers. This video is annoying, he attempts to be amusing, his music is pretentious and over the top and his drumming lacks any sense of class.

  • September 30, 2004 MIKE PORTNOY! LEGEND!

Look people the reason people like Dream theater and Mike Portnoy is because they are a fantastic band. And we like Mike because he's the worlds greatest ever drummer! I've tried his stuff and I can't do a lot of it! His off beats are fantastic...So...

if you say he could play the triangle for ages and we'd like it we wouldn't...It would be boring...:S We love his DRUMMING!
