Composed by James Mountain. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Sheet Music Single. 5 pages. Published by Praising God Publications (S0.29205).

"Like a River Glorious" is a 66 measure, 3-4-5 octave arrangement for handbell choir, with OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes. It is a 3 verse arrangement of the original Christian hymn. In the first verse, after a brief introduction, it is pretty straightforward with handchimes. Of course, handbells can be used in place of the handchimes if desired. The second verse features an inversion of the melody. It starts out in a minor key (handchimes in a minor key always have a special, eerily beautiful feel) then half-way through, switches back to the relative major. The third verse replaces the handchimes with handbells, moves up one step, and is louder and uses the full 4 and 5 octave ranges to enable much fuller chords than the 3 octaves of chimes used in the first 2 verses would allow. The difficulty level of this arrangement is about level 2. The audio clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.
