Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Renato Goulart. 20th Century. 55 pages. Renato Goulart #2343497. Published by Renato Goulart (A0.826516).

Le Tombeau de Couperin is a suite originally for solo piano composed between 1914 and 1917. Each of its six movements is dedicated to the memory of friends of the composer who had died fighting in World War 1. Ravel himself was as army driver during the war. The title may suggest what is seen and felt in a visit to the tomb of Couperin, however "tombeau" is actually a musical term popular in the 17th century meaning "a piece written as a memorial." In 1919 Ravel created an orchestrated version of four of the movements; it is one of his most popular works. This arrangement for saxophone quartet (SATB) include four movements: Prelude, Fugue, Menuet  and Rigaudon.
