This is a wonderful new series for introducing students to the classics. This book is about level 2 of a standard method. The key difference in this series is that the pieces are arrranged in order of difficulty, not historical order. A chart in the front spells out which period...

each piece is from, and lists the composer, key, and meter. The editing is as good as it gets for a literature collection of this type. The book is printed on beige paper, making the notes easier to read. The selections are the ones most of us want at this level, perfect for a student's first exposure to early masterworks. There are four books in the series. By book 3, the student is playing the Clementi C Major Sonatina. I would rank the last book at about level 5 or possibly 6, just about ready to study advanced works from urtext editions, etc.
