John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano - The Fourth Grade Book (Something New Every Lesson). For Piano/Keyboard. Willis. Learn To Play. Instructional book. Introductory text, instructional text, standard notation and fingerings. 92 pages. Willis Music #5958. Published by Willis Music (HL.412454).

ISBN 0877180083. With introductory text, instructional text, standard notation and fingerings. Learn To Play. 9x12 inches.

John Thompson was famous for his sincere efforts to interest young pupils in pianism. This series is a clear, correct and complete foundation in the study of the piano to enable the student to think and feel musically. All of his books teach, in the simplest language possible, interpretation and expression. One ideal is "to use in miniature the same attacks as those used by the concert artist.".

    Toronto, ON
    Difficulty Level:
  • November 16, 2012 Awesome Lesson Book! :D

I really like the John Thompson series! This book includes a lot of good intermediate-leveled pieces and I found that the information on the top page of every song is highly interesting. Ever since I started with the 1st Grade Book a year ago, I already knew that this...

series will entertain me in all musical ways. Lots of favorite pieces in this book. I recommend this book to anyone in the intermediate level of piano (6-8) as some pieces are twice as hard as the level of the book.

Great book with wonderful musical selections. My music teacher said these John Thompson books were the best to teach from. I still have the original one I used when I took lessons from 1958 to 1961. The Fourth Grade Book is my favorite because of the number of songs in...

it that I like. I bought this new copy for a friend who also learned to play the piano using the John Thompson series.

  • January 15, 2008 Great find

I ordered this because I have been playing from the 3rd grade book for about 30 years. Ridiculous, I know. This book would have been so great to have right after I stopped taking music because now I'm not very motivated to learn the new stuff. I keep picking...

at it though and I'm really enjoying it. Best wishes

    Difficulty Level:
  • May 20, 2007 Fun and progressive!

I had loads of fun learning all the songs in this book, I finished it years ago, but I still play the whole book through sometimes, just for the fun of it. John Thompson knows how to make learning new things fun. I started with this book, and now I...

can play some of Frederic Chopin's pieces, that's how far these basics can take you. I'd suggest this to anyone.
