John Henry “Bonzo” Bonham was the godfather of hard rock drumming – and he remains an idol to legions of Led Zeppelin and heavy metal fans worldwide. Although Bonham had to be courted away from more lucrative offers, he joined the newly formed band in 1968, helping guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant create such famous songs as “Stairway to Heaven” and “Kashmir” until his sudden death in 1980 at the age of 32. His unmistakable drum patterns are among the most emulated and sampled by today's rock drummers. This book is the first biography focusing on Bonham, providing a detailed track-by-track analysis of his greatest recordings, 45 color photos, and the most detailed and accurate inventory ever of Bonham's drum kits and percussion equipment.

Not enough on Bonham's techniques. Usual Hammer of the Gods stories. One incredibly stupid story about orange tuxedo, that ends with quote. "But we know where that tux came from, don't we readers." If ever I wanted to beat an author with his own book. It's 176...

pages. Number pages with pictures & quotes in BOLD writing to take up space. Really an 80 page book. Highlights: Bonham quotes, homelife, and drum kit info. No info on his bass drum technique. All people say how quick foot was, but not one roadie, member of band, not one person can even say for sure whether he played heel up or heel down. No one ever snuck a peek? John Paul Jones, evidently, never looked, for in the book he couldn't say for sure. Yeah, why would you look? He was just doing something THAT NO ONE HAD EVER DONE BEFORE. Why would that intrest you? You can't give me any insight into his playing yet you remember how many shots of vodka he had at the pub in 1973.
