Rollo Dilworth's exciting arrangement of this gospel favorite is an exuberant celebration of the birth of Jesus, our Savior and King. This driving, energetic anthem is full of spirit and joy! It will stand on its own with piano only, or add some sparkle with the optional trumpets and rhythm section. A tried and true winner! This was in the music packet I was given at a recent Hal Leonard Choral reading seminar. Rollo Dilworth was there and he ably led the 100 or so Choir directors through some of his other arrangements as well as several others'. The choral parts here don't seem too...

hard (aside from the rhythmic unfamilarity singers may have with 12/8 swing) and the voice-leading seems to be standard, rather than the close harmony one often hears in mass Gospel choirs. IMO the music needs Chord Symbols for Guitar/Bass. Also there seems to be some typos where the piano part clashes briefly with the choral harmonies. You could say this is part of the style, but I don't know. Perhaps since this is a new arrangement that could be corrected in future editions. Also a standard Db/Eb key change into Ab and NO VAMP at the end! But overall a good effort in bringing a Gospel sound to mainstream choirs....
