    Tucson, Arizona
    Difficulty Level:
  • October 16, 2008 Great source for musical ideas

This book offers a wide variety of songs with some interesting arrangements. However, you probably will want to substitute some single string or double string melody lines for many of the chord melodies to provide more color and variety. It's well worth the price if you are looking for...

some ideas to add to your own repetoire. An accompanying CD would also helpful.

    Difficulty Level:
  • January 29, 2008 Add Your Own Flair

While it's true that if you play these tunes exactly as written, you wind up with a simple straightforward "word for word" arrangement. But with a little fingerstyle picking and some bass runs, you can really make some nice arrangements on your own fairly easily. His chord vocabulary is...

beautiful. I use all 5 of his books and am looking forward to a sixth.

Arrangements very bland. Would not recommend. Placed it at the back of the shelf after about two days. May be ok for sight reading material.

    Difficulty Level:
  • February 12, 2007 Jazz Standards

The reasoning behind the selection of chords to create the mood of a song was interesting. Some popular standards have been chosen but some I hadn't heard before. It is a good resource for someone wanting to become a solo jazz guitar player working in noisy smokey cafes being...

regarded as background music. That is what I was hoping for anyway. A demo CD would be nice.
