    Difficulty Level:
  • January 29, 2013 Good straight forward arrangements

I think the book is quite good for intermediate guitar players who want very straight forward, very traditional jazz arrangements. If, however, you want lots of runs and creative/interesting/modern chord voicings, you probably will not be satisfied with this book.

    Difficulty Level:
  • September 23, 2008 Need the CD

I need the CD in order to hear the arrangements, since I do not read music. From what I see, the arrangemnts do not look very good, as I already knew some of these tunes and I think the ones I knew were better.

    Difficulty Level:
  • May 10, 2008 great arrangements

This is my first review of anything, whether at Amazon or here, because these arrangements are that good. I play classical and nylon-string jazz guitar and the arrangements are challenging without being intimidating. The result is sophisticated chord-melodies with lush, sometimes bluesy, harmonies. There seems to be deliberate...

consideration to exploit the dynamics of the guitar to make the pieces uniquely beautiful on the instrument rather than arranging them in a merely functional way to communicate the melody. I'm on my third arrangement in the book, Body and Soul, following my memorizations of Satin Doll and Summertime. I'm enjoying the book and recommend it.
