    Newport, Rhode Island
    Difficulty Level:
  • July 03, 2011 Good arrangements

The arrangements are very useful for things like cocktail party and dinner music gigs. They sound professional, and don't contain lots of hard-to-read passages. My only problem with the book is that the arranger has included three of his own compositions. They sound nice, but take room...

away from music that people would recognize. I can't afford to play any song that isn't a bona fide standard.

    Difficulty Level:

The wonderful experience of learning Reilly's arrangements is in the hidden contrapunctal ingenuity under the melody. The voicings and counterpoint fit the hands like gloves.
