    We played from this book at a wedding recently and it was great, especially after the usual classics and the people had warmed up a bit. We loved Take five in particular - a bit of a challenge but we worked on it and it paid off - I love the way...

    all these pieces have solos for all the instruments, sharing the limelight around. We stuck with the solos as written for Take Five and they were great. With more experience we could venture away to a bit of improv but not yet! How High the Moon, Day in the lIfe of a Fool, It had to be You - loved those too.

    Lots of fun for our quartet of upper moderate players. We loved creating a new sound as we are used to the classics. 'Paper Moon' and 'It Had to Be You' are our favorites. 'Take 5' was too hard for us because of the 5/4 beat. What is meant...

    to be Jazz improv parts are written out and almost too hard to play. It is much more fun to NOT try to sight read but take those parts and play with them with your own improv for that unique experience for rigid classical players.

    An excellent idea, especially for those who have the feel for jazz style but have not yet acquired the facility for improvisation. One shortcoming though. I don't understand the purpose of those passages of chord symbols. This would seem appropriate for guitarists but bowed string players are genrally not...

    equipped to interpret them. Am I missing something here?
