This a great book for a bassist looking to inject some fresh sounds into his book of licks. Be prepared to set your metronome to around 40 BPM if your a sight-reader like me, because its mainly 16th notes, and no riding any string. I recently played one of...

these songs at a solo bass show, and it got a big reaction.

  • August 26, 2003 Great fun!

This book is a lot of fun. It's challaging and rewarding at the same time. The accomanying CD is somewhat lacking in that the bassist doesn't play with any emotion. He strickly hits the right notes at the right times. This is good in hearing how the piece...

sounds rhythmically but doesn't help with the dynamics. Overall a good buy.

  • February 20, 2003 all about that 24th fret

First off, this book is definitely one for advanced players who are comfortable with moving their left hand fingers at an incredibly high speed and who have a good control of the entire fretboard. The notes in this book range from a low D to the 24th fret in the...

G string. This book is definitely an amazing transcende into a new level for any bass player. The tabs are very accturate, and the play-along CD gives you a great overview. Be prepared to spend some time on each song, since they prove to be tough at the beginning. I enjoyed this book greatly even though I am not a big fan of Bach. Oh, and if you don't use your pinky to play... well, there's always a first time.
