The Dey of Algiers is bent on capturing the heart of Isabella, a beautiful Italian girl found on an abandoned vessel by the Dey's captain of Corsairs. The Dey has a difficult problem ridding himself of his wife, Elvira, but believes he has solved it by his plan to marry her off to Lindoro, Isabella's fiance. Elvira, proving herself the wilier, manages to arrange the escape of Isabella and Lindoro from Dey's domains and at the same time retain the affection of her unsuspecting spouse.

    The Wind Syphony at my high school is playing this for Festival music. I believe the previous commenter said it was a grade four piece, which is not true. It's actually grade six, which leads many people to think it's harder than it actually is. There are a...

    few tricky runs for my part (clarinet) but other than that, it's pretty easy. I love this song!
