For Harp and Piano (1951). Composed by Christian Wolff. Contemporary Small Ensemble. Full Score. Composed 1951. Edition Peters #EP68457. Published by Edition Peters (PE.EP68457).Written for a dance by Dorothy Berea
In Greek mythology Io was a nymph, priestess of Hera in Argos, seduced by Zeus, who then turned her into a heifer to disguise her from Hera (his wife); but she, not fooled, set a gadfly on Io to induce her in her heifer form to flee unceasingly, eventuially coming to rest in Egypt. She appears in Aeschylus' tragedy, Prometheus Bound, in dancing motion.
