Invicta composed by James Swearingen. Concert band. Command Series. Audio recording available separately (item CL.WFR138). Grade 3. Score and set of parts. Composed 1981. Duration 6 minutes, 19 seconds. Published by C.L. Barnhouse (CL.012-1611-00).

A dramatic contest overture. The strong lyrical middle section provides just the right contrast for teaching different musical styles. For that next concert "Invicta" is sure to be a powerful and dramatic performance that your audience won't soon forget.

This is by far hands down my favorite piece. We had to play this song as a warm up for regionals but I liked it better than the rest of our songs. James is a man of pure brilliance.
