Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana is a beautiful harmonious piece by Mascagni. Unfortunately, Mascagni wrote it for a small orchestra without the all the parts of a full orchestra. This arrangement is great for orchestras who would like to perform this piece and want all the players to be involved. It maintains the same feel and originality of the original but adding all the elements of a full orchestra. The beginning is just the strings alone and slowly all the other instruments join in. The strings parts are all maintained the same as the original. The two harp parts are mostly played by the woodwinds while the organ part is mostly played by the horns. Every section in this arrangement plays a key role since the melody is passed section by section in the winds and brass.
