Concert band - Grade 1.5
Composed by Brian Balmages. Concert Band. FJH Developing Band. Full set (score and parts). Score only also available: B1201S. Score and set of parts. Duration 2 minutes, 23 seconds. Published by The FJH Music Company Inc (FJ.B1201).

Item Number: FJ.B1201

This fantastic work conjures images of an ancient tribal gathering. The opening's mysterious Incantation uses a soft, chant-like melody with slight intrusions by the percussion, foreshadowing the intense ritual to follow. As the opening builds, the driving beat of the ritual takes over with great fire. Percussion infuses this work with relentless energy as the piece draws to a powerful conclusion. Do not miss this one!

My school band is playing this song and we are only in 5th grade! It's my favorite song that we've ever played because it is really well composed!

  • June 28, 2008 WOW!

Love this song! We got to play it in band but never got to finish it! I'm in grade 7, play B flat Clarinet, 2nd Clarinet. When the song starts to go faster at the 85 tempo mark I think it is, with all the eighth notes, I found...

that rather difficult at first but once I got used to it, it got pretty easy. Although I still have troubles with that particular part. All in all, wonderful song! (No! Lost my sheet music for it!)
