  • June 05, 2009 Very dramatic anthem

I am the soprano section staff singer at Trinity Episcopal, Galveston TX. Our choir is small but each section is led by a strong staff singer, and we all love this anthem! It is like an opera, very dramatic with a compelling story and music that complements the text very...

well. It is well worth the effort to learn. Your congregation will sit up and take notice, I assure you!

  • June 04, 2009 Much work but well worth it

I was reminded of this piece as the Readings for worship this year for Trinity Sunday include it. Though I don't have the choral resources to do it at this parish, it was a stable for my previous parishes. The work involved is heavy, with a long lead time...

for preparation, a chalenge but not impossible for a choir that likes to achieve. The vocal lines are almost like word painting, the overall effect stunning. When I have used it, I have used it to replace the actual reading with great thanks from the congregation. And a choir who justifiably was satisfied and proud of all their work. It is quite a useful piece for any church choir with the choral resources, esp a strong men's section.

  • October 11, 2007 Challenging but enjoyable

I was eager to try this inspirational selection with my church choir after singing it at Montreat this past summer. It is a great piece of music, presenting a challenge for us, but one we can meet.

A great "barn-burner" piece for a fairly large choir.
