The combination of two respected Salvation Army figures, Albert Osborn and Eric Ball produced this classic piece. The beautifully crafted melody effectively enhances all three verses of the poem. Top sopranos have the tune throughout, with the lower female voices providing shadowing accompaniment, with a lilting piano part below. The King's Singers recorded an a cappella arrangement of this piece on their 2006 album ‘The Quiet Heart’.
