In Christ Alone

By Keith Getty

Customer Rating:   3 Reviews Write a Review

In Christ Alone composed by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. Arranged by Mark Hayes. For SATB choir, piano accompaniment (with optional brass quintet). Sacred Anthem, Eastertide, General. Octavo. Published by Exaltation Publications (LO.10-3689L).

Quickly emerging as a contemporary classic, this substantive modern hymn by the writing team of Keith Getty and Stuart Townend has already found its way into the singing vocabulary of many churches. Its sonorous, soaring melody feels a bit like a Celtic folk song. This setting starts simply and builds with each verse, culminating in a glorious affirmation of Christ's resurrection from the grave.

NOTE: This is the choral octavo only. Brass parts are sold separately.

I think this is an excellent short score for horns choir and piano. I will be ordering the full kit, next week. I need to bring back the power of music into my church.

First, let me say that the music is well-written and quite appropriate for a church choir. Sadly, though, the lyrics are nothing to write home about. The lyrics consist of a collection of good phrases put together with poor syntax--very poor grammar in general, I must say--and...

have a period stuck on the end, as if that constitutes a sentence. Our choir likes the song and really, some of the words are fine words, but I don't think we'll be purchasing Getty/Townend music in the future without seriously considered the lyrics quality.

A very worthwhile piece, and easy to adapt to fewer voices for the tiny choir. Very meaningful to the true believer.
