Duration: 2:02 (with one repeat)

This Classical Guitar/Fingerstyle arrangement of In Christ Alone is suitable for intermediate to advanced players. It will stretch the Intermediate and will give the more advanced player a little challenge. In general the arrangement sits nicely under the fingers in the first position untill the position shifts in the second section.

A nice little piece for solo guitar, or as a duet with someone playing the harmony/Chords on another intstrument. If you want to play in the original key use a capo on the first fret. It could be used as an instrumental in a reflective part of the church service, possilbly as communion is happening.

Practice
Essentially the first line of the verse repeats itself twice for the first section of the piece and then as the second half of the second section, making up the majority of the piece. So focussing on the second line of the music to begin with will mean you are well on your way to learning the rest. You will just need to focus in on some tiny nuances in bar 9, different from the simpler annacrusis of Bar 5, and then the slight difference in bar 21 leading into the closing section.

It would be easier to subdivide this and count in quavers rather than crochets to make it easier to figure out where all the semi-quavers come in. Also the demi-semi-quaver slur in bars 8, 12 and 20 are all hammered on from the open sixth string.

Bars 13 - 16 will need extra focussed practice as they contain a stretch from fret 3 in the sixth string with the first finger to fret 7 in the fist string with the fourth finger. This section is also where some big positions shifts come. It would be advisable to barre on where the chords are D and Bm. Half barre on the D. In Bar sixteen to make the shift from the 7th to 2nd position after playing the second high B on the first string 7th fret you will lift of and begin to transition as you play the following open strings.

Once you have it underneath your fingers and the timing is good, you may wish to roll any triads or chords when you play them at the start of bars to add some more technique.

You should make sure the melody is prominent and then the bass is next and the other apreggiated/harmony notes are more in the background.
