Kazimierz Serocki (1922 -1981) lived in Warsaw. He completed his musical studies in Lodz and Paris. After this he was first active as a pianist, before devoting himself wholly to composition. With the exception of opera, his output comprises all fields of vocal and instrumental music, including film music. Several of his works, among them the Sinfonietta for double string orchestra and his "Musica concertante", a piece composed in serial manner, have also become known in Western Europe in recent years.

    A pleasant and enjoyable piece to play, with much interplay beween the parts. Sceptics may find it interesting to compare this work (published 1960) with Suite No 1 for recorders by Arnold Cooke (published 1966). I do not think that Mr Serocki would have been pleased.
