Im Sommerwind (Idyl For Large Orchestra). Composed by Anton Webern (1883-1945). For orchestra. Full score. 32 pages. Published by Carl Fischer (CF.CY892F).

ISBN 825885329.

Im Sommerwind is historically significant, in that a young (21) Webern, fascinated by the works of Mahler, wrote this Idyll just before his period of study with Schoenberg - an episode that would forever alter his style. In fact, seemingly dismissing his earlier works, Webern assigned "Opus 1" to his Passacaglia for Orchestra, written four years later. It is said that Webern, himself, never heard Im Sommerwind performed, its premiere not coming until the 1960s. This, then, becomes a fascinating glimpse into the young Webern's evolution.
