Composed by Curtis Hanson. Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 33 pages. Curtis Hanson #41305. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719628).

"I Will Give Thanks to the Lord" was composed in 1998 and is intended as a more contemporary option to the sung liturgy associated with the mainstream Christian church, while still maintaining the integrity of traditional liturgical elements. Originally scored for handbells, two C instruments which double the voices, piano (or electronic keyboard), and bass guitar, this version has been simplified to just piano accompaniment. The file contains two versions in booklet format for congregation at the end, one with the accompaniment and one voice only, which may be duplicated for congregational use. Much of the liturgy is in the form of Call and Response, that is, a music leader sings a phrase and the congregation responds, often repeating the initial phrase exactly. There are two versions for the Nunc Dimittis, the congregational response following Holy Communion. The first is a paraphrase of Simeon’s exclamation at seeing the child Jesus. The second is the traditional text as found in Luke 2 with accompaniment on organ only.
