In the first verse the 1st instrument takes the vocal line while the 4th instrument takes the bass line
and the 2nd and 3rd instruments complete the harmony of the original lute part
In the second verse the 3rd instrument takes the vocal line, the 4th instrument continues to take the bass line
and the 1st and 2nd instruments move round to complete the harmonies.
Versions are available for string quartet, various wind quartets and brass quartet.
