  • January 28, 2009 This is beautiful

The solo version of this piece can be found in the "Folk Songs for Solo Singers" series arranged/edited by Jay Althouse. Although not truly a folk song as we know the composer, this piece is hauntingly beautiful and definately fits the style. This 3 part arrangement is up to...

Althouse's usual standards - simple yet extremely effective. For those unaquainted with the arrangements of Jay Althouse - check them out!

This song is so simple and so beautiful. The lyrics and the music. We sang it for my Grandma's funeral (all her granddaughters--about 25 or so!) and it was perfect.

  • July 30, 2007 Simple song to touch the heart

This simple song in the Irish ballad tradition has a timeless message that touches the heart of all who hear it. Combined with a haunting melody, it is a performance piece that will stay with the listener long after the venue ends. This piece could be added to ceremony repertoire...

and fits well as a mood piece to add to a program. We are using the SSA version for a women's chorale. Very easy to learn, good exercise in breath control and dynamics. Enjoy!
