  • October 14, 2001 Great Trascriptions of Complex Tunes

At last count Joni Mitchell used more than 50 alternative tunings (five-zero, folks!) in her guitar voicings. Add to that an amazing array of chords that even session players don't finger for years at a time and you have the makings of some pretty rough going for guitarists...

. Like any good writer, Mitchell makes the complex sound very simple. It isn't! The fact that this book is so expertly transcribed is a blessing and a curse. The book will get you to that Michell sound, but at a pretty high cost in terms of time and effort. You'll have to decide if it's worth it. I for one would like to see "Joni Mitchell for Easy Guitar." This is a great book, but be prepared to work those fingers.
