Hit the Road Jack composed by Percy Mayfield. Arranged by Paul Murtha. For Marching Band. Performance/Easy Limited Edition. Grade 4. Published by Hal Leonard (HL.3744666).

A tribute to Ray Charles would not be complete without this well-known classic tune. The opening trumpet solo with plunger is very effective, but totally optional depending on your situation. This medium swing chart is nicely scored so that every section gets a chance to play the melody. Perfect for any auxiliary or dance feature.

I have just been playing alto sax a year at my middle school and me and some of my band members got a chance to play in the high school band marching band. The title of our field show is a tribute to Ray Charles and we are play hit...

the road jack as one of our 3 songs. When I was handed the song I thought it was going to be no fun for the sax because of the 18 measure rest but the time flies when playing this song because it is so fun. I would recomend this to any high school marching band.
