  • August 01, 2015 a delightful compendium!

If you are at a late-intermediate/early advanced level, and you need to learn some Baroque-to-Impressionistic repertoire in a hurry, this book is a gem. Most of the pieces are quite short and all are evocative of the period in which they were composed. Enjoy! Very satisfying...

    repertoire.

  • May 28, 2012 Henle Album: Piano Music from Bach to Debussy

Thank you so much for this ministry to the public. I studied music a long time ago, am an office worker now and was very excited to receive this book. Played right through it and enjoyed every moment, meaning that it really wasn't impossible to sight-read - of course...

will have to practice quite a bit to play it properly. Thank you once again.

  • November 09, 2011 Henle Album: Marvellous

There is one Chopin Nocturne in this album that makes it worth the money, but there are many other lovely pieces as well. I wish Henle would put out other albums like this... so enjoyable to play, melodic pieces with a range of difficulty. Fantastic.

  • August 27, 2011 Great value, excellent sight-reading material

I bought this collection primarily to be used as sight-reading material. I do a bit of sight-reading every day that I practice, and while I'm an advanced pianist, I find it most useful to try and sight-read intermediate level material. So this book fits the bill...

. Lots of unfamiliar, shorter, intermediate pieces by all the great composers, as well as a few underrated ones. Henle is one of the best publishers of piano music, because their editions are authoritative and the quality of the printed music is top-notch (paper, print, layout, etc.). Their editions are usually fairly pricey (worth it, in my opinion) but this collection is very affordable, a no-brainer. Even for more advanced pianists, this is a nice collection either for sight-reading or for those who just want some shorter, nice pieces they can learn and enjoy without too much arduous effort.

  • April 30, 2011 useful collection

This is a useful collection of lesser-known pieces by well-known composers and by composers who should be better known(e.g. Clara Schumann, Kirchner and Reger).
